Edge
When most of Midgar was destroyed by Meteor, a new city was built on the outskirts
called Edge. Using materials gathered from the ruins of the original Midgar, Edge
was built initially by residents wishing to rebuild their homes.
- Seventh Heaven and Orphanage - Tifa's bar occupies downstairs after
being rebuilt in a new location. Upstairs orphans including Denzel live under
the care of Tifa. Tifa also takes phone calls for Cloud's courier business,
Strife Delivery Service.
- Meteor Monument - a monument was constructed in the middle of Edge
to commemorate what happened to the original city.
Midgar
Most of the city is now in ruins, although many buildings still stand they are generally
inhabitable. Remnants of ShinRa are common including the Sister Ray cannon, now
overgrown with vines. After the building of Edge began, materials were gathered
from this area. Now much of the old city is only accessible by foot, with roads
being blocked off.
- Sector 5 Church - the same church where Aerith tended the flowers
in FFVII, this church is where Cloud chooses to live in solitude.
Midgar Plains
A barren area outside Midgar. This is where Cloud is confronted by the three silver
haired men for the first time. The Midgar Plains are also where Cloud pays homage
to his lost comrade, Zack. Zack was killed in this area by ShinRa soldiers when
the two tried to escape from the basement of the Nibelheim Mansion after being experimented
on. Zack's buster sword now marks the spot and Cloud often returns to this place.
A silver wolf can sometimes be seen in the area, the spirit of Zack.
Healin Lodge
A quiet location set amongst trees and waterfalls where those who suffer from Geostigma
can go to relax and live a peaceful life. This is the current residence of Rufus
ShinRa who apparently confined to a wheelchair and is himself suffering from the
disease. The Healin Lodge is located somewhere in the mountain range that runs across
the continent that Midgar is on.
Forgotten Capital and Sleeping Forest
- Forgotten Capital - Once where Aerith was laid to rest, this has
now become the base for Kadaj, Loz and Yazoo. The three bring orphans and children
to this location, telling them that they need to fight against the planet because
it has given them Geostigma. Kadaj pollutes the lake where Aerith was once laid
to rest with a black substance which causes the children to become hypnotized
and under his control.
- Sleeping Forest - A mystical place, the Sleeping Forest surrounds
the Forgotten Capital. Cloud travels through the Sleeping Forest in order to
get to the children. It is here that Cloud comes in contact with Aerith for
the first time since her death. Cloud later engages in a battle with the three
silver haired men through the branches of the forest.
